Question by Taylor: Can you use a previous contact lens box as a prescription to buy a new one?
I lost the prescription paper. I use the contact lenses brand ACUVUE so if you use that too, that’s a good reference; the box says the power I need, the curve, and the diameter.

Can I use it to buy new contacts?

Yep, all brands show all that info right on the box.

You can use that again, unless your prescription is over a year old. If it is, the Dr. may not approve it when the site contacts them to verify it.

Question by : Why might my contact lens be causing double vision?
I just got a new prescription. Everything seems perfect except sometimes the left eye sees blurry and slightly double vision. I have astigmatism. Does it mean the lens is fitting improperly? Like I said, it’s only sometimes.

The lens is not fitting properly, causing blurriness. If it were just the wrong strength, it woudl be blurry all the time.

The curvature of your contact lens might not be matching the curvature of your eye (the base curve, or BC). Think of a big head wearing a small hat. This could cause your contacts to not settle in properly, causing intermittant blurriness.

When your vision in one eye gets blurry, your brain has trouble combining the images from your two eyes into one image. Eventually, this will get better because your brain will start ignoring the image from one eye (suppression), but don’t be fooled by the seeming improvement – this is a bad thing.

You should be re-fitted. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the fit right.
